Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Things just won’t slow down!  First things first…  Party time at Monkee’s!  This Saturday, September 26 from 11am-5pm we are hosting a Gentle Souls trunk show.  Now, if you haven’t slipped on a pair of Gentle Souls you haven’t lived my friends.  These shoes are first and foremost, very fashion forward.  But more importantly, their comfort technology gives you the feeling of walking on air!  These shoes are lined with pockets of finely grated flax seed that create these amazing comfort cushions that mold to your feet.  Truly, they are a must-have in each of your closets!  So, come in for a glass of wine and meet the fantastic Robert Romeiser our Gentle Souls rep and see the entire line of beautiful shoes for you to choose from!

So while you’re twinkling your toes in a pair of Gentle Souls on Saturday, browse through the scads of fabulous new jewelry that Lauralee and I picked up while we were in NYC this week!  And…  just you girls WAIT until we reveal the major surprise that Monkee’s has in store for you in Spring 2010!  Start making room in your closets chickies!

A Fabulously Fashionable Day!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

When I heard the rain beating on my roof early this morning, I wanted nothing more than to pull the covers up tighter – snuggle in with my dogs and keep on sleeping!  But alas, fashion called and I had to hop up, fluff my new hair-do and bustle out into the rain to get my busy day started!

This morning, I was honored to be a part of a fun fashion show for the Titans Wives Association.  So many of these girls (and guys) have been tremendous supporters of Monkee’s and I was thrilled to partner with the funky shop Flavour on Demonbreun to present the must-haves for Fall!  The crowd went wild for my shoe pairings and the Tennessean’s Fashion Diva, Cathi Aycock gave us glowing reviews!  Check out our coverage on NashvilleShopping.com!  Here are some pics that I snapped backstage:

After taking a bow at the Titans Wives fashion show I hustled out into the rain and onto the next “thing”…  I had to make a pit stop at the house, walk the dogs, and change into an LBD and heels for a cocktail party and bridal show at The Bride Room!  Now, I know I have chatted before about my precious friend Charlotte Poling who is the bridal guru of Nashville!  If there is a 2nd time the aisle for me, I can promise Charlotte will be my first phone call!  Charlotte enlisted the help of event planners extraordinaire Malcolm & Martha Greenwood and Denise Sykes of Big Events Wedding to create a beautiful setting in the Courtyards at Bandywood.

I was drooling over the frothy confections that Charlotte sent down the runway and marveled at the fun and flirty short dresses for the quirky girl!

It was a fabulously fashionable day…  But happy to be home and prop up my BARE feet for a little R&R.

Out and about in Monkee’s shoes!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Whew!  What a weekend girls and boys…  First on the agenda, The Mad Hatter benefitting the Sexual Assault Center and was chaired by Monkee’s girls Diana Day-Cartee and Nancy Benskin.  My fun friends Mary Maddox (of Hemline), Brooke Sevier & Meg White (of Petit Chateau and Sevier & White Interiors) along with Allison Huber rounded out our gorgeous table.  We dined under the stars on the steps of the Parthenon on a perfectly gorgeous evening.  So, somehow I forgot my camera but I wore a fantastic black cocktail number with matte jet stones around the jewel neck with the super-funky “Naetana” by BCBG.  I have to say, after an evening on my feet,  and finishing the night by dancing on the patio at Lime, they were pretty comfortable little numbers!

BCBG-Naetana

I should have gotten home a little earlier than I did from my night out because Sunday was a BIG day for me!  Way back in April I reserved my ticket at the HOTTEST event of the year and the big day finally arrived! Those in the know arrived in eager anticipation at Arugula Star Farms for Outstanding in the Field – a culinary experience extraordinaire serving food “at the source” all from local farmers and winemakers prepared by local chef Martha Stamps.  And it was absolutely gorgeous – take a look:

I went with a big group of friends – and met some new fellow foodies!  Including my table mates, Brad Paisley & Kimberly Williams Paisley.  You gotta love Nashville and good celebrity sightings!  And here’s the proof – I subtly took a photo with my buddy Elizabeth James capturing the Paisley’s on the right!  So sneaky…

Ok, now back to business…  We had an absolute blast last week with our friends from Pinnacle Financial Partners.  I love my bank ladies and they have been such tremendous sources of support in starting my business.  So, I invited a bunch of the Pinnacle girls to come by Monkee’s for a private shopping party as a big THANK YOU.  Everyone left with Monkee’s bags in hand and happy faces all around…

Pinnacle

Now, that’s one heck of a blog post…  Off to bed shoe friends!  Come see us soon – lots of new styles popping up on our shelves!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Most of you girls know our precious Lauralee at Monkee’s…  She is a bundle of energy and one of the sweetest girls I know!  Way back in the early Spring when we were at market, Lauralee fell head over heels in love.  Now as you can see, Lauralee is quite a looker – and we have to shoo away many a love-struck suiter from the shop (no kidding, one guy showed up with a box of Christie’s Cookies – YUM).

But Lauralee has fended off many an eager invitation in anticipation of her true love’s arrival at Monkee’s in the Fall.  Well imagine her tears of joy when our darling UPS man arrived with her sweet prince in that cardboard box!  Lauralee has been waiting, and wishing, and hoping, and praying that Delman “Anouk” would hurry up and arrive – and her dreams came true!

Delman-AnoukAnouk

Delman’s feathered boot “Anouk” leaves us at a loss for words.  And I kid you not, I thought I would have to give Lauralee CPR when this gorgeous boot sprang out of its box.  Even if a flat feathered boot isn’t for you, it’s worth your while to stop just to stare at this boot’s sheer beauty.  And yes, it is possible to have a religious experience over a pair of shoes!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

A few weeks ago my friend, Elizabeth James was featured on this fantastic local blog, Style Blueprint and I was instantly hooked!  And as luck would have it, one of the blog authors Liza Graves contacted me about wanting to dish on Fall footwear fashions (my favorite Fs) and Diane von Furstenberg’s mix of opaque tights and socks with open-toed sandals in her latest collection.  I am so thrilled to have a new Online resource to keep “in the know” about what’s happening around Nashville and even more thrilled to have a new friend in Miss Liza!

Take a gander…  You’ll be hooked too!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

I must admit that one of my guilty pleasures is watching DVR-ed episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show!  Love her or hate her, you can’t deny that Oprah is a force to be reckoned with!  They say that her stamp of approval as a Favorite Things will do wonders for the products she promotes!  And people, the girl isn’t a billionaire for nothing!  Clearly she knows what she’s talkin’ about!

So, imagine my excitement to see that Oprah has waved her magic wand over my favorite shoe this season!  I have preached and preached the virtues of Kate Spade’s gorgeous mocassin “Duffy” and clearly smart women think alike as Oprah thinks it’s on of this season’s Wardrobe Essentials!  Don’t take my word for it…  Click and see for yourself!

I can honestly tell you, I have taken these shoes for some major spins – trudging through shoe market, on my feet at the store, huffing it around town!  I am putting some miles on these babies and they just keep getting comfier!

Duffy

Ok…  So in order to make room for yummy new Fall shoes like “Duffy” above, we have to clean out the backroom with fabulous deals on Summer styles for YOU!  Don’t forget, this Thursday, September 3 is our MEGA-sale!  And we’ll have wine and nibbles for sustenance from 4pm-7pm!  You will be a sorry soul if you miss out!

See you Thursday!
