Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Our friends who stop by the store are amazed at the new Fall accessories popping up on the shelves at Monkee’s!  It’s still warm and sunny but it’s time to be thinking about your Fall fashions!  With chillier weather in mind, I was excited to see the newest fashions at the Worth clothing show.  Monkee’s Girls Lucy Haynes and Jane Corcoran have been selling this beautiful ready-to-wear line for years and they are excellent stylists – and allround great gals!  I was THRILLED when I arrived to find Lucy beautifully decked in Worth fashions with the bronze Eric Javitz Donut Thong from Monkee’s!

I had to contain myself as there were so many beautiful clothes!  But I did pick up a gorgeous long jersey cardigan in this beautiful taupe color.  It will be the perfect thing to throw on this Fall with a pair of chocolate brown trousers or with dark denim and a white t-shirt.  And I have just the PERFECT necklace to complete the look…

We have picked up a fantastic jewelry line that is hand-made by Nashvillian Cindy David.  You must stop by to see her fantastic necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings.  I especially love her charm necklaces.  They come in a variety of colors with shells, beads, and other trinkets clustered on a gold chain.  I enlisted Perry and Cassie to assist me in modeling these little pretties for the blog to give you and idea of how you can mix and match these necklaces with lots of different looks!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Oh heavens!  I am sorry to keep apologizing for the intermittent blog posts but I am having the most fun summer!  I am fresh off of a fun-filled weekend with friends at Center Hill Lake.  So yesterday meant getting my brain back in Monkee’s gear!  Last night, I had a fabulous dinner at Local Taco (if you haven’t been, you are missing THE SPOT) with two fellow retailers, Logan who owns Helen’s Children’s Shop, and Ashley  who owns Corzine & Co (and is a veteran Monkee’s Girl of the Month).  We had a great time swapping ideas and comparing notes over delicious tacos!  It is so nice to be able to sit down with fellow retailers and have a sounding board!  Even more fun was running into several of our Monkee’s friends including handsome Rhett from H. Audrey at the Hill Center who was sporting his oversized gold Michael Kors watch purchased from Monkee’s!  He was perfectly accessorized with a margarita to top it off!

I am adoring this cool, humidity-free weather of late!  It was perfect for sitting on the patio at Local Taco last night!  But, I am sure the heat and humidity will return in the coming days!  And with that comes those pesky mosquitos.  But, we have the perfect product to keep the little buggers away!  Monkee’s Girl and friend Lara Jarrell hand-makes these amazing bug-off bars that are all-natural and DEET-free.  I LOVE them!  We are selling a bunch…  It’s simply a lotion bar that you rub on your skin.  It keeps the bugs and away and smells delish!  You have to try them!

I am dying…  I have just gotten off the phone with Monsieur Paul Mayer himself!!  He called to tell me personally that our eagerly awaited Paul Mayer Attitudes shoes will be here this week!!  Oh la la! Girls, I am telling you, these shoes are TOPS!  First off, they are a classic lady shoe.  But mixed with the right “look” they will come across fresh & modern as well!  And I am telling you, they are so extremely comfortable!  You could walk clear across Manhattan in them and not even flinch!  We already have a waiting list for these ballet flats and a list a mile long of girls who want to be the first to know when they hit the floor.  And, stay tuned…  We plan to host a trunk show this Fall with Paul himself!

I would like to introduce 2 very special people to you…  Our July Monkee’s Girls of the Month, Ashley & Anna Claire Stringfellow!  This mommy-daughter duo are some of our favorite customers.  Now I must give full-disclosure, Ashley is one of my oldest friends and Anna Claire is my God-Daughter, so I am a little biased.  But their frequent visits to (and fun purchases at) Monkee’s also qualify them as official MGOTMs.  We particularly look forward to Anna Claire’s visits as she is a total ham – and truthfully, she thinks she owns the place.  Also, in her answers to her MGOTM questions, just so you aren’t confused, she calls me “Lolly”.

Ok, next on the agenda…  Many girls are asking: “How do I get to be Monkee’s Girl of the Month?!”  Well it’s easy – you don’t have to be a big spender, you just have to show your face in here frequently!  MGOTMs are absolutely customers, but more importantly, they are our buddies!  So, by no means is this an exclusive club of super-spenders, it’s just a way for us to spotlight the girls who come by on a frequent basis for a pair of shoes or even just to get a lolly-pop!
