Chukkers for Charity

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

I know, you don’t want to hear all of my excuses (NYC, tennis lessons, writing Spring 2010 orders, blah, blah, blah). And don’t worry, Robert has fussed enough at me already for not having posted an update all week! First of all, if you haven’t come in to see our fabulous new jewelry and headbands, you are MISSING OUT! And, even better… We have started putting Spring and Summer clothing and shoes at up to 50% off!

Now, over the weekend I went to one of my favorite events of the summer… Chukkers for Charityand Monkee’s Girl

Notice in the photo that Ashley, Maren and I are all sporting sandals from Monkee’s! I LOVE IT! And, I have to give you a close-up of me and Cassie so you can see my CUTE feathered headband!

It was too hot for a hat so I decided on a little head jewelry instead. ADORABLE! I got so many compliments! We have them in black as well!

Hurry in friends for fun sandals and accessories so you can be hotter than a firecracker on the 4th of July!!

Xo,

Elizabeth

New Jewelry

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Dear Monkee’s girls,

You cannot imagine how much fun it is to buy the jewelry for Monkee’s.  I don’t want to take too much of the mystery out of it, but it’s kind of like that game show when we were kids that contestants run around a toy store cramming things in their cart.  Lauralee and I are CHAMPIONS!  We grab baskets and stuff them full of goodies at record speed!  We pile them behind the counter and head to the next spot and the boxes magically appear at Monkee’s within a few days!  It’s MARVELOUS!  Our loot arrived last Friday and we worked feverishly all weekend to get everything in the system so we could get them on the shelves and into your jewelry box!  Most items are under $60 and you will love it!  I’ve posted some of my favorites below!

Oh, and I am in LOVE with the feathered and flowered headbands.
I’ve been flaunting one every day this week!  Perfect for those bad hair days with all of this humidity!
Oh!  And I can’t forget…  You know those colorful enamel bangles we always carry?  Well we picked up a bunch of new colors that you MUST add to your collection!  I wore mine last night to dinner and a movie with one of my favorite friends, Elizabeth James!  We caught dinner and a movie…  You must see “Valentino: The Last Emporer” at Belcourt Theather (link: http://www.belcourt.org/).  If you’re a fashionista, it’s a MUST!  And then we hit Zumi Sushi (link: http://zumisushi.com/), a fabulous new sushi joint that my friend Patrick Burke recently opened.  The sushi was excellent and the patio is perfect for sake on a hot summer night!
Come see me and stock up on fun summer jewelry!

Final Day @ NYC Market

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

I haven’t had a moment to breathe since we got home! I have played catch-up through the weekend so today is my first chance to post an update! Our final day at market was a doozie with appointments non-stop until we hit the cab ride to LaGuardia. Started the morning off with Donald Pliner and have a little jewel for you below!
donaldpliner Donald and his lovely wife Lisa were kind enough to pose with me (along with their dog BabyDoll) for a photo op. The shoes were fantastic and you will love his comfy and fashionable collection for Spring 2010! Killer wedges and fun sandals! Then off to see a new top-secret designer line! I can’t reveal the who and what yet but you will DROOL all over yourself when you see it! Then, cute Beverly Feldman and sweet Jeffrey Campbell – he always makes us smile! But we are SO excited about a new line that so many of you have been asking for! So, your wish is our command! ‘Round about July we will receive fabulous ballet flats and kitten heels from Paul Mayer! Precious Paul has been in the biz for 25 years and has always been consistent, but his classic design rings eternal and he’s the new “it boy” on the block! So ladies, get in line because his hand-crafted shoes will go quickly! Lauralee and I charmed Paul into another shoe photo-op so you can see how handsome this Frenchman is!
paulmayer So our busy week came to an end but the work isn’t ever over! We received the INCREDIBLE new jewelry and headbands on Friday and it’s mounds and mounds of fabulousness! I will post a few of my faves that immediately came home with me but you really have to get over here to see it for yourself!

Come and see me!

Day 2 @ NYC Market

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

It was another early start and SHOES SHOES SHOES! Our day began with a limo ride to the Sofft showroom which felt like it was in East Egypt – but the tasty donuts and fabu shoes were worth the long ride facing backward through morning traffic! Sofft has become one of our best selling brands and the cute styles, reasonable prices, and sheer comfort make these shoes a must-have for your wardrobe! We loved the cork wedges and the fantastic metallic mock-gladiator!

Next, to Cole Haan which was a bit subdued, but we saw some cute styles.

Kate Spade, Dani Black, and Juicy was fun.
juicy-spring Kate Spade really stood out for Spring 2009 and we were particularly drooling over a Chanel-esque silk pump with a gorgeous silk flower!
katespade-spring
BCBG was amazing – as usual!
bcbg-spring We have some exciting new lines that are top secret right now – but if all goes as planned you will be in shoe heaven!

Lauralee and I got a second wind and met Perry (again – I know, we can’t get enough of her) for a tres magnifique dinner at Pastis in the Meat Packing district. I was able to indulge in my FAVORITE dessert, Ile Flottante, which is nearly impossible to find on any menu. So, I was a happy girl! Oh, and another celeb sighting… I literally ran into Heather Mills in the ladies room. I have to say, her new pixie cut is very cute!

Ok, I am so sleepy that my fingers will barely type! We have another full day of shoe market tomorrow and I am sure we will have lots to report. Lauralee and I are excited to get back to Nashville and unpack all of the fabulous jewelry we purchased for you Monkee’s girls on our trip! Come and see us on Friday!!

Day 1 @ NYC Market

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009
Dear Monkee’s Girls,

Well, I am keeping my eyes open with toothpicks to update you on our first day in NYC for Resort market.  I woke up at 4:30am, picked up Lauralee at 5:30am.  We were at the airport by 6am for our 7am flight – which was delayed an hour!  We sacked out on the plane and awoke upon touchdown at LaGuardia.  And chickie, did we hit the ground running down at jewelry market!  You will want to RUN to the store next week when the new jewelry that we bought arrives!  Here’s the deal – tribal beaded necklaces are THE thing!  We have all shapes, sizes and varieties headed our way and it’s the must have for the summer!  Lauralee and I were holding back tears as we jammed fabulous jewelry into our baskets.  Honey, it was obscene!  You have never seen so much jewelry…  Another favorite to look forward to are the fabulous flower and feather headbands.  I popped a blue flower headband on for our lovely lunch at Bergdorf’s and must say, it was precious!

After lunch, we were off to our first appointment to see Cynthia Vincent’s Holiday collection.  Ladies, you all went NUTS over Cynthia Vincent this Spring.  We only have a few pair left!  And remember the gladiator style heel, “Titus” that we had a waiting list for a mile long?  Well, just you WAIT!  The list will get even longer come Resort delivery (December) when we get “Titus” on the wedge!

Great sandals and amazing bags too!

You all will love what Cynthia is doing with her bags.  We will be getting several styes in for Fall and most are under $300 – which is a bargain these days with handbag prices!

We ended a busy day with a fabulous dinner at Waverly Inn with one of our favorites, Perry del Favero!  Perry is in NYC this summer at an ultra exclusive journalism program through NYU and Lauralee and I were SO happy to catch up with our little Perry!  And, a big thanks to Miss Cassie Markham for pulling some strings and getting us a reservation at the ultra-exclusive Waverly Inn.  We gave Hugh Grant a wave as we waltzed out after dinner – and he is as cute in person as he is on the big screen!
So, off to bed – Lauralee is already snoring!  We have a busy day ahead with LOADS of appointments tomorrow!

Stay tuned for updates each day!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

KJL Earrings
These fabulous Kenneth Jay Lane tribal-chic beaded earrings are getting so much press!  The most recent issue of In Style featured them in their “Shop It! Girls of Summer” spread as “The Bohemian” Look and we are happy to report that they are flying out of the store.  If you would like a pair we can easily special order them – they also come in black or white.  Beware, Lauralee reports that they are a bit heavy – but no pain, no gain baby!
In other jewelry news, we just received a huge shipment of Gerard Yosca that included his new lily-pad necklace that was featured in Lucky Magazine.  This beauty is artfully displayed on our center shelf and it’s getting lots of ooohs and ahhhhs  While this piece is a bit pricey, we have lots of fabu Gerard Yosca earrings under $100 that will make your ensemble.  The pear tassel drops are incredible!
