Dear Monkee’s Girls,

I LOVE to give presents!  I love, love, love to give presents!  Especially when I know it’s going to be something that someone is going to squeal over!  And I got just that reaction from our Monkee’s graduates, Laura Wright and Perry Del Favero!  So here is the big reveal!  Because they are so WISE I thought the perfect gift was the fabulous Kenneth Jay Lane owl necklace.  Both girls were tickled pink and look precious in their smart new jewels!  And I do have to admit, Laura Wright had been pining away for that necklace for weeks and that made the giving even more sweet!  She was SO surprised!  And Miss Perry hadn’t even seen it, but she is always one for a bohemian-chic piece of jewelry!  

I have this necklace as well and it is always a conversation piece.  It looks fantastic layered with lots of gold chains or wooden beads or another bold piece of the ilk.  We have one waiting for YOU (or your wise new graduate) in our jewelry case!!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

My week at the beach has given me the opportunity to catch up on PILES of magazine reading!  I just came across one of my favorite shoes at Monkee’s in the recent May issue of LUCKY magazine!  These Cynthia Vincent “Delphi” sandals are FABULOUS!  While LUCKY featured the leather sandal with the yellow rope, we chose a more neutral shade of the roping for the store. 

I think they are so fresh and fun.  They go with EVERYTHING and are timeless, classic footwear.  How adorable with a pair of white linen shorts and a breezy Polo button-down this summer?  From ship to shore, these shoes are glamorous with a capital G!  Just envision yourself in these sandals strolling along the shore in St. Tropez with a Brad Pitt look alike!

Monkee’s Girls,

Please forgive my absence!  Last week was nuts trying to prepare for my upcoming trip to market in NYC and wrapping things up to go on vacation!  I am writing to you from my beach chair at Kiawah Island and it couldn’t be more wonderful!

I survived the mud and the muck at Steeplechase!  The ominous weather that morning did not deter my crew and we waded through the mud to the boxes.  The weather turned out beautifully and it was a fun-filled day!  I saw lots of Monkee’s hats and rain boots up in the boxes.  Laura and Lauralee were covering the infield and reported lots of Monkee’s gear down there as well!  The girls came up for a photo op. Check out our fabulous hats and the girls’ fun jewelry from the store!  Lauralee’s Kenneth Jay Lane beaded earrings were gorgeous!  Let us know if you would like a pair, we can special order them!

Then, my sweet friend Rob Bironas stopped by for a hug.  Rob, our handsome kicker for the Tennessee Titans, gets the girls hearts pounding when he makes a guest appearance at Monkee’s.  I have the great priviledge of serving on the Board of the Rob Bironas Fund, which he just started.  We have great plans for this upcoming year to enrich the lives of children in Music City through music education.  You’ll be getting more updates on those efforts in the coming weeks and months!

Finally, our BIG news is that our very own Laura Wright and Perry del Favero graduated from Belmont University and Wake Forest University, respectively.  I am so proud of these incredibly dynamic women and cannot wait to see where their many gifts and talents take them.  We have already suffered through the grief of missing Perry at the store, but we get to hold on to Laura a little longer as she searches for the perfect job in the music industry.  Just you WAIT to see what we gave the girls for graduation.  It’s still a secret because I have to get back in town to give them their gifts in person.  But here’s a hint: it’s a tribute to how WISE they have become in their college years!

I will miss you all this week but will be back at Monkee’s on Friday!  Hurry in for fun flipflops and sandals!  As the summer approaches we are quickly blowing through so many fun styles! hurry in so you don’t miss out!

Well, back to the beach!  The next time you see me I will be tan and relaxed!

Dear Monkee’s Girls,

I am bursting with excitement that Reiko Zealear is our Monkee’s Girl of the Month for May!!  Reiko is not only a Monkee’s fanatic, but she is also a dear friend.  And she has more talent in her pinky than I do in my whole body!  Reiko is THE skincare guru in Nashville (in my humble opinion) and she literally can work miracles.  We love when Reiko comes to visit us at Monkee’s because she bursts in like a ray of sunshine and only leaves happiness in her wake!  Ok, I know…  I am gushing.  But you get the point!
